Cale is excited to begin registering campers for the 2012 season! Paper registration forms are available to the right; and beginning in February, online registration and payment options will be available as well! Please contact us if you have any questions about the registration process.
General Information
Eligibility
The grade specification for each camp goes by the grade that the camper just completed.
Cost
The regular price for a week of elementary or junior camp is $275. The price of teen camp is $300. The cost of camp includes all meals, housing, use of recreational equipment and facilities, and instruction in activities while at camp. The cost does not include additional snack shop items.
Arrival and departure
Registration opens at 4:00 pm on Sunday afternoon for each camp week. Campers cannot be checked in before this time, so it is not necessary to arrive earlier. Parents/guardians are asked to leave the camp no later than 5:00 pm. Dinner will be served to campers on Sunday evening.
Campers may be checked-out between 4:00 and 5:00 on Friday evening. There will be no closing program. Parents/Guardians and visitors will not be allowed to enter the campus before 4:00 on Friday, and we ask that all campers and visitors exit the campus no later than 5:00. Dinner will not be served on Friday evening.
Visitors are not allowed during the camp week as this can make some campers homesick and detracts from the camp experience. Should you need to come to the camp at any time other than registration or check-out, please contact the main office in advance so that we may be prepared for your arrival. Feel free to call the office to check on your camper throughout the week.
We ask that campers stay the entire week of camp. Having campers leave and return during the camp week interferes with the camp experience for all campers. Please arrange any appointments, practices, etc. so that they do not interfere with the camp week. There are no refunds for late arrivals or early departures.
Housing
Campers are assigned to cabins by age group. Each camper may use his or her registration form to request one name as a possible roommate. The person whose name you write down must also write your name down for your request to be honored.
Camper dress
Girls may wear modest walking shorts with an inseam of at least 3 inches, loose fitting slacks or skirts; modest, loose-fitting tops that cover the stomach at all times, no spaghetti straps; undergarments should never be showing. Swimsuits should be modest one piece suits. Boys may wear walking shorts or loose fitting pants; shirts must be worn at all times (except in the river); undergarments should never be showing.
The staff of Cale reserve the right to ask the camper to change clothing if the clothing is not modest in the opinion of the camp staff.
Lost and Found
Our goal is to not have any Lost & Found items. Please help us by labeling everything your child brings, and make sure you have all of their belongings before you leave the camp property. Cale is not responsible for lost or broken items. Items will be held for two weeks pending calls to identify and claim them. Items not claimed after the two-week period are donated to charity.
Emergencies
In case of emergency, call the camp office at (252) 264-2513. Under normal circumstances, campers are not allowed to make or receive calls during the week.
Please plan to send camper for entire camp week. Late registration and/or early dismissals are permitted in case of an emergency only. Non-cooperative campers are subject to dismissal.
Mail can be sent to your camper at the following address:
Cale: Camp & Conference Center
Attn: (write your camper’s name here)
377 Camp Cale Rd.
Hertford, NC 27944
Please send mail early in the week so that it is received at the camp before the camper leaves. If mail is received for your camper after they have left the camp, it will be returned to the sender.
Spending Money
Campers may want to bring $30-$40 for their account to spend in the snack shop. to help prevent theft or loss of money, campers cannot keep cash in their possession. Campers may claim any remaining funds on their snack shop account at check-out. Funds still remaining in the snack shop after the camp closes each week will be considered a donation to Cale.
Photos and video
During camp week, photographs/video may be taken of campers and used for camp promotional materials.
Registration
Non-refundable registration deposit ($75) must accompany each registration form. Registration deposit MAY be transferred to a different week of the same camp season, but will not be refunded. Registration closes the Tuesday before each camp starts. The balance of the camp fee is due in full at check-in.
Submitting a registration form does not guarantee registration. A camper may be denied registration if it is determined that that the program does not meet the camper’s physical, mental, emotional, or behavioral needs. If you feel this policy may impact your camper, please schedule a meeting with the camp director.
Notification of registration status will be sent to the email address(es) provided on the registration form. If an email address is not provided, please contact our office to determine the registration status of your camper.
