Purpose

Participants in the Alpha and Omega Leadership Collaborative, who consist of 13-17 year olds, will receive the resources and opportunities necessary to develop a life of wisdom, health, faith, and friendship. The program was established by the Ray Bryan Award from the Rye Foundation.

What it is

Starting this year, we have an entirely revamped Alpha & Omega Leadership Collaborative! Alpha’s will come and spend a week or two during summer camp learning about leadership. They will be given the opportunity to work alongside staff (and for Alpha week 2 with campers) to develop new skill sets. This program will help the participants become ready to work as summer staff in the coming years! Must be between 13-17 years old to participate. Potential candidates should have a growing faith and will be taught leadership from a Christian perspective. Sign up at the Register button above (make sure you click on the Alpha Weeks and not Youth Week, unless you are interested in that as well)!

Cost

There is a cost with this program. It is $250 per week, with scholarships available! This helps to pay the staff members assigned to this program as well as meals and housing. If you sign up for BOTH weeks, you will receive a $100 scholarship off of your second week AFTER completing your first week!

What your week will look like

Alpha Week 1 (June 2-7) will be held during the end of our summer staff training. This week our Alpha’s will be learning through leadership training, devotions, learning to run/operate some of our activities, and participating in fun games and activities. This week will start on Sunday with check-in from 4:00pm-5:00pm and end on Friday with check-out from 9:00am-10:30am! Our speaker for this week will be Scott Williams, our Northeast NC Area FCA Director! Please note the different check-out time from Alpha Week 2.

Alpha Week 2 (July 28-August 2) will be held during Dragonfly Day Camp! This week is an opportunity for our Alpha’s to put their leadership skills into practice! They will be helping with the operation of our day camp and going along with our staff to assist with activities. When the day campers leave for the evening, our Alpha’s will have the opportunity for devotions, fun games, and other activities! This week will start on Sunday with check-in from 4:00pm-5:00pm and end on Friday with check-out from 4:00-5:15pm! Please note the different check-out time from Alpha Week 1.

Keep in mind that Alpha’s are not the same as campers. They will be given more responsibility and assisting roles to help aid our program. They will still have plenty of fun times as well! This program is a stepping stone to becoming summer staff in the coming years!
